The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis has been running after-school scholastic chess programs in community centers and schools in the area since 2008.

On Monday, January 4, the World Chess Hall of Fame (WCHOF) partnered with the American Red Cross (ARC) to encourage chess fans to give back to their communities by donating blood. Held in honor of the WCHOF’s current exhibition, Battle on the Board: Chess during WWII, and coinciding with National Blood Donor Month, the drive was a reminder of the relationship between chess and philanthropy.
