World Chess Hall of Fame
Saint Louis, Missouri
Join the WCHOF for an evening celebrating the music of world-renowned cellist Gregor Piatigorsky, which will be held in conjunction with our current exhibition Jacqueline Piatigorsky: Patron, Player, Pioneer.
Jacqueline married Gregor in 1937, and her husband would prove to be a key supporter of her chess career, encouraging her both as a player and a tournament organizer. The program will present pieces associated with Gregor’s illustrious musical career including works by Gabriel Faure, Ludwig van Beethoven, Jacqueline Piatigorsky and Gian Carlo Menotti. Cellists Evan Drachman and Fernando Venturin, along with pianist Peter Henderson, will perform works to celebrate the life of renowned chess player Jacqueline Piatigorsky, Drachman’s grandmother.
