Great Turnout for April Family Day
After a month off for installation, Saturday, April 7th marked the first Family Day event featuring the World Chess Hall of Fame’s new exhibitions, Marcel Dzama: The End Game and Bobby Fischer: Icon Among Icons, Photographs by Harry Benson CBE, which opened March 9th and will remain on view through August 14th.
The day’s subject matter was the knight, one of the more recognizable figures on the chessboard. Kids, with the help of their parents, decorated their own shield with colors, animals, and other symbols that represented themselves or their families.
After completing the shield, the young knights-in-training embarked on a “quest” through the galleries to find certain objects or elements in the artworks, and to reflect on how the art connected to their own lives. Those who successfully completed their quest received a prize from Q Boutique!
If you missed April’s event, stop by one (or more!) of our next three Family Days, which will feature our Spring/Summer 2012 exhibitions. Taking place on the first Saturday of the month (May 5th, June 2nd, and July 7th), each Family Day features a new theme and project.
We look forward to seeing you!!
